EVENT DETAILS
1. Introduction
Dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) is a wellestablished technique for characterizing mechanical properties of all kinds of materials, particularly polymers such as thermoplastics, thermosets,
elastomers, adhesives, paints and coatings, films and fibers, as well as composites. DMA in combination with Rheometry can provide quantitative and qualitative data regarding:
– Viscoelastic moduli and damping
– Material structure and morphology
– Influence of fillers and fibers in polymers
– Crystallization/melting processes
– High temperature and curing performance
Detailed information about these properties is crucial for new material development as well as for design of new production processes. A new 2-in-1 measuring device concept is introduced which combines a rotational upper drive and a moving lower linear drive. This enables rheological measurements (rotational, oscillation) and DMA (torsion, tension, bending, compression) on a single
platform.
2. Key Takeaways
– Understand the benefits of combined Dynamic Mechanical Analysis and Rheology
– Learn the design and benefits of a true multi drive rheometer
– Learn the current technologies, measurements and applications used in material development and testing
3. About the speaker
Dr. Stefan Wurzer (Global Product Specialist Rheology, Anton Paar GmbH) is a skilled polymer engineer with a Master’s degree in Polymer Engineering and extensive expertise in polymer
characterization and thermal analysis. With a broad understanding of material behavior, Stefan Wurzer is working hard to distribute knowledge about characterization methods around the globe, particularly for dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA). He has been serving as a Global Product Specialist in Rheology since 2021, working with industries and researchers worldwide to optimize material performance through advanced analytical techniques using rheometry.
