Dr Andrew Ang

Chief Investigator

Dr Andrew Ang is a senior research engineer within the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Technology at Swinburne University of Technology, where he has worked since 2009. Andrew has a strong commitment to pathways for the efficient manufacture of industrial products demonstrated through his research activities and his numerous industrial collaborations, in particular the defence maintenance, repair and operations sector.

    • Additive and Near Net Shape Manufacturing
  • Recent research project examples:
    • Field trial and performance evaluation of protective coatings against biofouling and corrosion used in marine hydraulic application
    • Investigating kinetic spray technology for 3D printed parts
    • Development of thermal protective coatings for CFRPs
    • Manufacturing of new generation antimicrobial coatings for hard implants.
    • Fabrication of functional and novel coating via thermal spray such as high entropy alloy coatings and boride-based coatings
