Jiali Jing (Julia) completed a Master of Food Science at the University of Melbourne in 2018. After graduation, she worked in a microbiology laboratory, where she gained hands-on experience in microbial testing and quality assurance for food safety. This experience further strengthened her interest in antimicrobial technologies and laid the foundation for her current research. She is now undertaking a PhD in Materials Engineering at Swinburne University of Technology as a SEAM affiliate. Her research focuses on the development of graphene-enhanced antibacterial polymer coatings designed to improve antimicrobial performance and surface durability. Julia collaborates with her industry partner, Kingsflair International — a Hong Kong-based leader in the design, engineering, and distribution of kitchenware and household products. Kingsflair is committed to innovation and sustainable manufacturing, with expertise in nanotechnology. Julia’s project translates those innovations into functional solutions for the food sector and broader industrial applications.
